The group started the morning from the hostel and went downstairs to have some breakfast together. After eating, we all packed up our bags and brought them out to the bus to visit Salina Turda. We started the visit with a guided tour where we learned about the history of the salt mine and how it became the museum/amusement park that it is today. As we walked through we saw the walls of the tunnels covered in salt and slightly wet. We learned that this is because there is a very high humidity in the salt mine, and a salty solution covers the walls and crystallises at the bottom. On our tour we also walked through an echo chamber where the echo repeated back ten times!
We ended our tour at the same staircase that the miners used to use, which had the year that each level was started engraved in the wall. Downstairs we enjoyed the ping pong tables, the beautiful salt lake, as well as the ferris wheel. After our visit to the salt mine, we had another bus ride and finally arrived on site at Tasuleasa! We met the other members working on site, enjoyed dinner and a presentation about the organisation, and then retired to our tents.
