Today was the cultural day of Romania, therefore we went on a trip to Suceava.
After a three hour drive, we arrived at the Citadel of Suceava which was built in the 14th century, according to our guide. He told us some more interesting facts about its history, such as the fact that it was never conquered, and then we had some time to explore it on our own. Besides the usual weapons you would find in any fortress, its position allowed us to take a look at the beautiful view of the skyline.
We had lunch at a restaurant right next to the Citadel, and then we left for the Voronet Monastery.
One hour later, we arrived at the monastery, where we were taught about its history and the meaning of the paintings on its walls by a nun living there. We had a good look around, and then spent some time at stalls which sold traditional Romanian handicraft items.
We drove for another two hours to get back to the Tasu campus where we had dinner and spent time around the campfire.
